The personal watercraft (PWC) concept originated in the 1960s when a home inventor conceived and built his notion
of a powered water ski. This design combined the elements of self-power, small size, and a maneuverable, active ride.
Bombardier Recreational Products, known for its Ski-Doo snowmobiles, introduced a craft in the late 1960s with
limited success. This craft gets credit for being the first sit-down style PWC. In the early 1970s, Kawasaki
Motors Corp. U.S.A. introduced the Jet Ski® watercraft, the first commercially successful PWC.

Why It's Good to Have a Specialty Policy.
Not all Personal Watercraft Policies are the Same. Items like homes and cars are insured on standardized insurance forms, so
for the most part everyone gets the same basic coverage regardless of the carrier. But with PWCs, there are no standard insurance forms. Each carrier
develops their own policy, which results in some policies being very comprehensive, others being very basic, and most being somewhere in between. Plus,
some carriers understand PWC owners needs better than others. With so many choices out there, it's a good idea to go with a carrier that specializes in PWC
insurance.
Specialty Policies Protect You against Lots of Things That Can Happen. Sometimes you can cover your PWC by adding an
endorsement to a policy you already have. But, that coverage is usually pretty basic. To obtain increased coverage limits, as well as coverage options such as
uninsured watercraft and emergency towing, you need the protection of a specialty policy.
Many people are surprised to learn that 99 percent of all personal watercraft sold today are multi-passenger vessels, with three- and four-seat models the fastest growing segment of the industry. These are family vessels, purchased by families who want to spend a day together on the water, and have found PWC to be affordable, approachable, and easy to store, transport, and maintain.

Personal Watercraft (PWC) Coverages.
- Physical Damage Coverage. Market value protection against damage to or theft of your PWC.
- Liability Coverage. You can be held liable for injuries that happen to others while you are boating. We provide both liability protection and coverage for bodily injury to family members. We also provide a sub-limit for family members, which means you and your family are protected under our liability coverage.
- Medical Payments. Pays to policy limits for medical bills resulting from an accident that happens while you operate your PWC. Provides protection for the policyholder, immediate family members, as well as non-family members involved in the accident.
- JetSport Advantage Endorsement. Additional protection at no extra charge. Includes the following coverages:
- Uninsured Watercraft. Protection for when another boater collides with the PWC you are operating and that boater is not properly insured.
- Non-owned Watercraft Liability. Extends your policy's liability coverage to any PWC you operate.
- Emergency Assistance and Towing. In the event your PWC breaks down on the water, and even if your trailer breaks down while you are taking your PWC somewhere.
- Trailer Coverage. This optional coverage protects the trailer you use to tow your PWC.
Policy Discounts
Nobody wants to pay more than they need to. Atlas offers a couple options that can lower your premium payment:
- Multi Unit Discount. Insure two or more watercraft with Atlas to receive this discount.
- Remove Machinery Damage Coverage from Your Policy. On older PWCs, the deductible for an accident may be higher than the cost to repair or replace the machinery inside the unit. If you choose to remove coverage for machinery damage from your policy, we'll discount your premium accordingly.
Handy Options, Benefits and Extras

- Convenient Payment Options. We offer our customers many flexible ways to pay the premium on their policies. They can pay it all at once, or in two installments.
